The Schlumpfs before the Pink Ribbon Gala

Dr. Raphael and Heidi

My name is Heidi Schlumpf and in April 2021 I was diagnosed with Triple Negative metastatic breast cancer (MBC). Metastatic breast cancer is treatable but not curable and what most people do not realize is that 20-30% of women with an early stage breast cancer diagnosis will experience a recurrence and become stage 4. Currently, breast cancer is the most common cancer experienced by women globally, yet we don’t know how many women receive a stage 4, metastatic diagnosis each year.

I chose to raise funds for the London Health Sciences Centre to support Triple Negative Breast Cancer research projects and/or clinical trials at London Health Sciences Centre. There is very little research taking place for stage IV breast cancer but it is absolutely imperative since stage IV is the only breast cancer that kills. With rising numbers, I am hoping you will join me in working towards a cure.

In time, I hope to raise $100,000 for TNMBC research so that future generations no longer have to suffer and with hopes that they will have more time here on earth.

Being a mother of four, my dream is to be able to watch my children grow. At the age of 34, I am facing the reality of death and I know my dream is just that- a dream. This is what motivates me most because I want those diagnosed in the future to be able to live out their dreams.

Let's do this!
