ABOUT THE RUN

The London Run for Ovarian Cancer was started 19 years ago by a small grass roots group in support of their friend who had developed the disease. This successful group generates the largest amount of funding for London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) of any volunteer group in London.

OVARIAN CANCER - THE REALITY

Thousands of women across Canada are living with ovarian cancer and this year alone, more than 2,800 Canadians will be newly diagnosed with this disease. Lack of reliable early detection tests and few treatment options mean many women are at stage three and four by the time they are diagnosed and, as a result, 70 per cent will die because of the disease.

The money raised by the London Run for Ovarian Cancer provides the Translational Ovarian Cancer Research Unit at LHSC with funding to help establish new collaborations with researchers across Canada to develop new ways to kill ovarian cancer cells.
